[1:15]  ¹ tn Heb “young men.”

[5:1]  ² tn Heb “look we are your bone and your flesh.”

[11:16]  ³ tn Heb “the valiant men.” This refers in context to the strongest or most valiant defenders of the city Joab and the Israelite army were besieging, so the present translation uses “the best enemy soldiers” for clarity.

[12:16]  ⁴ tn Heb “sought” or “searched for.”

[12:16]  ⁵ tn Heb “and David fasted.”

[12:16]  ⁶ tn The three Hebrew verbs that follow in this verse are perfects with prefixed vav. They may describe repeated past actions or actions which accompanied David’s praying and fasting.

[15:28]  ⁷ tn The pronoun is plural, referring to Zadok and Abiathar.
